1983 in Music

TK has posted about the Year of Your Birth/Current Hit week on American Idol next week.
In a replay of a former post she lists the top 100 songs of 1978, her high school graduation year. I actually like many of the songs from '78 better than those from 1983, my year, but it was interesting that I can sing a large portion of the songs that were popular from 1978-1982. Many of my favorites: Queen, Boston, Rush, Kansas, ELO, & the Eagles weren't much in favor in 1983. Styx & Journey had hit albums, but I liked previous songs better. I was never a fan of the Culture Club/Eurythmics/Human League kind of music. I'm actually more into the current music than I was the music of the mid-'80's.

Oh the memorie! I pretty much quit listening to FM once I graduated from high school (86) so music is stuck in the past for me.

Rick's band plays a couple of these. His group plays dance rock from 80s, 90s, and now.

Oh my gosh! Just reading the titles brings so much back. Sometimes I would dearly love to return to the 80's. I was at my very best. I must work to change that, and make THESE the best years of my life instead. :)

Yep, there are some real dogs in there.
I"m like you Jane. I graduated in 84 but am more familiar with music from a bit earlier. I think it's because in Jr Hi and earlier yrs are a bit more passive. You are riding around in the backseat of the car. You idolize older cousins. You want to be cool, but you're too young to do any cool stuff. You listen to the radio more. Kasey Kasem, etc. In high school, you are busier with everything, and even then, younger years seem like the good ole days.
Spandau Ballet can take a flying leap for all I care!
