Photo Hunt: Antique

Antique:
1.of or belonging to the past; not modern.
2.dating from a period long ago

The first picture is the headstone of my GGGGGrandmother who was born in Pennsylvania in 1803 and came to Indiana in 1847. She died here in 1896.

This is an old farm wagon under the overhang of a very old barn on a fascinating farm just south of Fort Wayne not far from the airport. It's many outbuildings are rather dilapidated and it looks abandoned, yet the grounds are kept perfectly.

Great choices for today's theme! I enjoy visiting cemeteries and reading the old headstones...wondering about the people and the lives that they had.

That farm is beautiful. What I wouldn't give for such a nice piece of property!

Have a great Saturday and thanks for visiting :)

Great pictures! I love the one of the farm - all of these old farms are really making me want to take a road trip through the US this summer when I'm home from Malaysia :)

Awesome pictures! I love them! As a kid I used to go to an old cemetary down the street and read the old headstones. You reminded me about that today! :)
I also have my pic up if you wanna stop by!

I tried to read what's written on the gravestone, it is really very very old ! I wonder from what origin she were, Irish or English maybe ?

We aren't sure. Her husband was of German background but was a third generation American. His grandfather served in the revolution. Her maiden name was Shoup, but I really haven't focused any research on her yet.

The gravestone of your ggggrandmom is really quite amazing. It made me think I must visit my Swedish grandparents' grave next time I'm there. It's been far too long.

Thank you for visiting my blog:)

I don't know anybody in the world who can go back that far in their family! That is so wonderful!

My mom has photos of her ancestors' gravestones in Indiana which she treasures.

The barn picture is wonderful.

How nice you can go to a family headstone so old, and reflecting on life in your GG+ grandma's days.

Very nice entry
