To gray or not to gray

Polly's reply to my last post made me think about something.

I have stopped coloring my hair. It has been five months since I last used semi-permanent coloring and I think that what I have now is pretty close to my natural color. I've definitely got some gray, but I don't think it looks bad. I've been noticing how few gray-haired women I see when I am out running around. Is this a baby boomer thing?

I often wonder if I should just let myself go gray. I have quite a bit of it. I don't know if I'm ready for that.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've been anxious to see what mine looks like. I haven't seen my natural color since I was about 28. But right now I like it.

I do, of course, reserve the right to change my mind.

almost everyone I know colors their hair to some degree. I think it's the cheap/easy access that we've all grown up with.

I have never colored my hair and I'm not sure that I have the guts to do it. Of course, I'm starting to notice the gray....but hubby has very little pepper in his salt these days, so I figure I'm ahead of the game.

Jane - I would think that with your coloring that your gray wouldn't be too obvious - but why fight it?
I think colored hair makes a person look harsh. We'll call you - the Silver Fox. : )

I have been wanting to color my hair less often. That is why I had the low lights added to my hair, so that there isn't a line while I let it grow out natural. For now bring on my grey...but I too reserve the right to change my mind!

I'm really surprised. In spite of the warnings from various hair stylists, I am not unhappy with the way my hair looks.

And now I can use the shampoo that my hair really likes since I don't have to worry about my color fading.

Part of the reason I stopping making the gray go away was I was uncertain when I would go totally gray! I didn't want to be one of those 80 yr olds who has jet black hair. Blech! I like my salt and pepper and would never go back to coloring my hair. I think the gray I have now looks softer on me. Now my dear husband can no longer claim me as his daughter : )
